Where Conflict Begins

The world faces conflict because conflict is held internally first, then expressed outwardly. An opinion, whether negative or positive, does not come out at random. It first must be pulled from the mind before it gets projected outwardly.

To be free from judgement without denying experience. Aware with feeling but absent of opinions seems at first a near impossible task. It’s so habitual for us to look at others and opine, categorize, label, or do something where we mark and measure. Yet, it’s very much within the realm of possibility. Because if you can walk around a minute and simply look at others without making positive or negative comments in your mind, then you can do this for another minute. If you can do it at all, at any time, then you can do it for all of time.

When we judge, we hold that feeling inside of us. The other person may not be aware they’re getting a scathing review of their existence. Who then holds this negative emotional charge? The individual giving energy to that. That’s the experience within. If it gets passed on through an expression, then someone else might linkup with that sentiment in their own way. But ask yourself, can you hold an open heart and be happy holding negative feelings?

People close themselves off to their sense of love, and close themselves off to others. Attention is kept away from things that bring joy and towards drama. And so a conflict free society starts with the mind of the individual. You, me. While it appears that no single person changes the world, it takes many single persons to do so. And you can’t force others so only you can be that person.

This is not to say we stop ourselves from describing our experiences. If a boundary was broken, it was. To give voice to our experiences, authentically, makes visible what needs to change and what shouldn't be repeated.

A sign of an enlightened society will be when it’s common to not have an opinion of others. To be able to describe what they’re like but without marking them as good or bad.
